Week In Review - Last week before a break...

Wow! This week has been jamming all week long!!! We had a ton of stuff going on this week as it's our last week before a break. We are trying the 6 weeks on, 1 week off schedule this year and boy do we need next week! My parents are coming to visit too so it's perfect timing for us to relax.

So we started off the week working on our regular school work. We are finishing up review chapters and closing off chapters with tests before starting our next session. I tried something new with the Apologia science this year. Instead of the notebook journals, we are using the lapbooks you can find here. They are working fantastic and he has such a great time doing them.

We had our second science class this week and the theme this month is cooking. He is having a blast as he is learning all types of things. He made me a delicious taco in class Thursday that he was so proud of. He was yummy!!

We also had lunch with friends Tuesday at the park and Thursday at the park. It was a beautiful day and such a nice one to be outside. It is finally starting to get where we can tolerate the park days again. It gets soooooo hot during the summer here it will take your breath away when you walk out the door.

He came home that night after class and made dinner for his dad and I. (with a little assistance from Mama). He made tacos and a delicious apple crisp from his first class he took.

We also took time Thursday to remember those many lives lost on 9/11/01. We put our flag down at half mast on Thursday and talked about some of the things that happened. It's hard for me to teach about because this one is different. This one I actually experienced. It's not something I read about but I actually saw it happen with my own eyes. I remember those emotions that flooded the country. This one is different.

Our week has started each morning, except for one, like this.

Tis the season for breathing treatments and allergy flares. Thankfully it's just in the mornings that he is tight and hopefully it stays that way.

We did have a blast yesterday at our very first co-op of our homeschool group. This was a lovely time of learning, playing and growing together as a group. We have quite a talented group of children and Mama's that share their talents with us. I love that we started our "school day" like this... in prayer.

So how was your week? Did you have lots of fun and exciting things going on? Check out the other weeks and link yours up with Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers, Our 4 Kiddos and Homegrown Learners.
